Healthcare Waste Information
- - If no specific assessment is carried out the guidance states all waste from healthcare waste should treated as infectious waste and is Hazardous waste
- - If specific assessments highlight waste which is potentially infectious this should be separated and treated as Hazardous waste
- - Waste should be contained in yellow (or orange if alternative treatments exist) containers, or sharps boxes
- - Requires premises registration with Environment agency (unless exempt - see Legislation section)
- - Hazardous consignment notes must be used for the collection of this Hazardous waste
* Denotes EWC code that is classified as Hazardous Waste
- - If no infectious waste is generated or has already been segregated but waste consists of items contaminated with body fluids or feaces then this is to be treated as non-infectious offensive waste
- - Waste is collected in 'Tiger' yellow and black striped bags
- - This is not Hazardous waste and does not require premises registration or consignment notes.
